first_img View post tag: Defense View post tag: Hand August 6, 2013 Indian Navy Lends a Hand to Rain-Affected Areas In the aftermath of the incessant rains in the state of Kerala, and the consequent rise in water levels the State Government of Kerala sought help from Navy. Consequently, Naval Rescue Teams from Southern Naval Command (SNC) have been dispatched in affected areas.SNC has send two teams comprising of 20 divers and four Gemini boats (rubber inflatable boats) to the island of Thuruthu at Aluva in Ernakulam district to provide assistance to the marooned families there. Another team has been sent to Idukki district for providing suitable assistance at the site of the landslide there. The Navy has sent a 16 member diving team to rescue marooned villagers from an island in the Periyar river which is in spate. The Navy is also sending a 40 member team to Idukki where two landslides have occurred within a short span of time.Similarly, Indian Army and Indian Air Force have also garnered their forces to respond to the situation and the Indian Army has sent three columns of Army personnel to the affected site.A 40 member team of the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force ) along with 5 tonnes of relief material are being ferried by two Indian Air Force aircraft. Elena Kampouris Will Join Les Liaisons Dangereuses

first_img Les Liaisons Dangereuses Elena Kampouris will make her Broadway debut in Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses this fall. The screen actress will take on the role of Cécile Volanges, joining a cast that includes Tony winners Janet McTeer and Liev Schreiber. The Josie Rourke-helmed production, originally from London’s Donmar Warehouse, will begin performances at the Booth Theatre on October 8.Kampouris recently played the daughter opposite Nia Vardalos and John Corbett in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Her additional screen credits include American Odyssey, The Cobbler and Men, Women & Children. She will also appear in the upcoming film Before I Fall.The dark comedy, based on the 1782 novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, followers lovers-turned-rivals La Marquise de Merteuil (McTeer) and Le Vicomte de Valmont (Schreiber) as they challenge each other to games of reputation-ruining seduction. Among their targets is the young convent girl Cécile (Kampouris), whose love for her music teacher is exploited to thwart her engagement.As previously reported, the cast will also feature Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Madame de Tourvel and Mary Beth Peil as Madame de Rosemonde. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.Les Liaisons Dangereuses will open officially on October 20. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through January 22, 2017.
