October Jobs That Pay Update: #AmazonInPA, Launching Google Skills, Moving Jobs from NYC to the Lehigh Valley

first_img By: The Office of Governor Tom Wolf Economy,  Jobs That Pay,  Round-Up,  The Blog This month, Pennsylvania continued to attract businesses in pursuit of highly skilled talent and a robust economic climate that only the Keystone State can offer.Following Amazon’s request for proposals for a second headquarters in North America, Governor Wolf lead a statewide bipartisan effort to promote the commonwealth as the prime location for the company’s HQ2 project. The effort included the launch of Amazon in PA web page, a collection of economic facts and joint letters of support from Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation, legislative leaders, education advocates, and cabinet officials.Highlights this month also include Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Pittsburgh launch of Grow with Google, a new digital skills workforce development initiative to help educators and small business nationwide, and the announcement that Royal Industries International, Inc., a manufacturer of promotional products, plans to move operations from Brooklyn, NY to Allentown, creating 80 new Pennsylvania jobs.Governor Wolf also joined Steve Case, founder of AOL and Revolution, on the Rise of the Rest tour that showcased several start-ups operating in central Pennsylvania.Finally, two Pennsylvania cities were ranked in the top 25 startup cities, Philadelphia (3) and Pittsburgh (12), according to a report by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.Highlights from October 2017Governor Wolf Announces Relocation of Royal Industries International, Inc.
