Women’s Basketball Set for Hoops in the Heartland Action

first_img MOLINE, Ill. – The Drake University women’s basketball team, which claimed the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship, is the top seed at this week’s MVC Tournament “Hoops in the Heartland” at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill. Drake will play either No. 8 Indiana State or No. 9 Illinois State in the quarterfinals on Friday at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast online on The Valley on ESPN3 and on the radio at 1350 ESPN Des Moines. Drake’s game notes will be posted Thursday night following the conclusion of the Indiana State and Illinois State game. Drake holds a 4-1 advantage over Indiana State in all-time conference tournament games while it is tied at 2-2 with Illinois State. The Bulldogs and the Sycamores last met in the tournament in 2013, a matchup won by the Bulldogs. Drake beat Illinois State in 2012 in the last tournament meeting between the teams. Live Stats Live Audio Drake Game Notes Drake won its first MVC regular season title since 2008 and its first outright title since 2000 with an 18-0 record in league play. Since the start of the MVC in the 1992-93 season, Drake is the first team to go through MVC play undefeated at 18-0.
