The Chief Minister accused Bedi of interfering in day to day affairs of the elected government.”Governor Bedi is scuttling various welfare activities of the government like free rice and Pongal Bonus to ration card holders, disbursment of salary and pensions to government staff. I am forced to stage a peaceful protest as the governor did not respond to the 39 charter demand presented by the government,” he said.Narayanaswamy criticized Governor Bedi for undermining an elected government and misusing her office. The two have been at loggerheads over the administrative powers of a union territory. The current protest by the Chief Minister comes a day after differences between him and the Governor on the implementation of the rule for wearing helmet.”The government is for implementation of the mandatory helmet rule. But it should be implemented after creating awareness about the same. However, the lieutenant governor is behaving like a police constable by trying to enforce the rule. She has caused inconvenience to motorists. Her actions do not bode well for the office she holds,” said the chief minister.advertisementRead | Puducherry: AIADMK MLAs smash helmets to protest against Kiran Bedi’s compulsory orderWatch | Kiran Bedi is a law breaking LG, says Puducherry CM Narayanasamylast_img
