Update (11:30 a.m.)The Dearborn and Ripley County Clerk’s Office are currently available to issue a marriage license for a same-sex couple.According to Ripley County Clerk Mary Ann McCoy, they have yet to distribute a license.Decatur and Franklin counties are awaiting word from state and county attorneys prior to issuing the license.Update (8:05 a.m.)Not every county in the state is issuing a marriage license for same-sex couples as of Thursday morning.Decatur County Clerk Janet Chadwell said her office is waiting on direction from the State Court Administration and also for updated license forms from the Indiana State Department of Health as the license currently is stated as between a female and male.We have left a message with the Franklin and Ripley County clerk’s offices for an official determination. Dearborn County is allowing same-sex couples to receive a wedding license.First Report (7:00 a.m.)The news that a federal judge struck down Indiana’s ban on gay marriage has prompted some same-sex couples across the state to head to their respective county clerk’s offices.A couple in Dearborn County received their wedding license on Wednesday afternoon, according to WLWT Channel 5 News.Dearborn County Clerk Mike Probst said his office will open at 8:30 a.m. Thursday for anyone wishing to obtain a wedding license.The ruling by the federal judge led some Indiana counties to automatically issue licenses on Wednesday while others waited on word from the Indiana Attorney General, including those in Ripley and Franklin County.The Indiana Attorney General has filed for an emergency stay on the ruling is planning on filing an appeal.Stay tuned to continuing coverage in this developing story.
