New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) failed to go past Delhi Capitals in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday in Vizag and while pundits spoke about how the DC youngsters put up a brilliant show, one cant ignore the fact that SRH missed the services of the duo of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow at the top of the innings. With both Warner and Bairstow leaving for their respective preparatory camps for the World Cup, Hyderabad were forced to open with Martin Guptill and Wriddhiman Saha. And the duo failed to recreate the magic that saw Warner and Bairstow take the opposition bowlers to the cleaners at the top of the innings. Also Read – We will push hard for Kabaddi”s inclusion in 2024 Olympics: RijijuBatting at the top for SRH, the duo of Warner and Bairstow scored 1145 runs with Warner getting 692 of them and Bairstow hitting 445 runs from 10 games. They played an integral part in SRH starting the season on a winning note. While the performance of SRH deteriorated after their exit, the early kickstart ensured the Hyderabad-based franchise qualified for the playoffs with just 12 points. Guptill and Saha failed to rise to the challenge and the responsibility seemed to be too huge for them. While Guptill could manage only 81 runs in the three matches that he played, Saha hit a dismal 53 runs in his three innings that he opened in. The result was there for all to see as SRH could manage only 54/1 in the powerplay, having lost the wicket of Saha for 8 in the fourth over against Delhi Capitals. Williamson too accepted that the team missed the two swashbuckling openers at the top of the innings. “Warner and Bairstow were brilliant when they were here and they were prolific with the bat. We were without them for the last two or three games, but we still played very well despite missing them,” he said.
Cleveland IndiansThe Cleveland Indians struggled offensively once again, going 2-4 in series’ against the Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins. After taking only one of three from the Angels, the Tribe returned home and only won one in a weekend series against the division-leading Twins. The Indians are 10-14, 5-and-a-half games behind the Twins in the American League Central and in third place behind Detroit.Studs: Austin Kearns. The former Cincinnati Reds slugger had a big week, with seven hits and six RBIs in three games against the Angels. He came into Sunday’s game against Minnesota hitting .357, with two home runs and 12 RBIs.Duds: The offense. The Indians’ offense continues to be a major disappointment, with an American League-worst 85 runs. Those fortunes could change when highly touted catching prospect Carlos Santana gets called up from the Columbus Clippers.Up Next: The Indians continue their homestand with three games against Toronto beginning Monday and a three-game weekend series with the Detroit Tigers. Cincinnati RedsStep by step, the Reds are creeping back from a sluggish start to the season. The Reds opened up their week on the road with a three-game series at Houston. For the first time this season, Reds fans had their chance to bring out the brooms, as the Reds swept the series against the Astros.Pitchers Aaron Harang and Bronson Arroyo had some solid outings, each recording a win in the first and third games of the series respectively, and Mike Leake continued a brilliant start to his professional career recording a win off his seven-inning, five-hit performance in the second game.Pitcher Johnny Cueto helped the Reds’ win-streak get to five games on Friday, as the Reds won at St. Louis. The streak then came to an end Saturday as the Reds couldn’t match the Cardinals’ late-game surge, losing the game 6-3.Studs: The Rotation. At the beginning of the season, it seemed like these guys were never going to win a game for the Reds. In just this past week, Harang, Leake, Arroyo and Cueto all recorded wins, and didn’t leave it up to late game heroics to ensure a Reds’ win.Duds: Jonny Gomes. It was tough because no one Red had a really bad week. Gomes has only two hits in 15 at-bats over the last six games, though, and he’s a liability in the field as it is.Next Week: The Reds come back home this week as they host a series with the Mets today, and then get a day off before hosting a three-game series against the Cubs.
Ohio State redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins (7) throws the ball downfield in the second quarter of the game against Rutgers on Sept. 8. Ohio State won 52-3. Credit: Casey Cascaldo | Photo EditorDwayne Haskins has been nothing short of spectacular in his first two starts for Ohio State. The redshirt sophomore quarterback combined for 546 yards and nine touchdowns with only one interception while completing 79.2 percent of his throws. These eye-raising statistics came against Oregon State and Rutgers, who held the third- and 55th-worst scoring defenses in the NCAA last season, respectively. Now, with TCU, the 16th-best scoring defense in 2017, on the horizon, Haskins and the Ohio State offense will be getting their first real test of the season. For Haskins, his first real test as a starter.Besides the final 20 minutes of the Michigan game last season, Haskins’ experience came at the end of games that were decided well before he ever touched the field.Haskins will be making his first collegiate start against a ranked opponent at a neutral site 18 miles from TCU’s campus. In doing so, he has an opportunity to build on his already impressive stats. In the press conference on Monday, acting head coach and offensive coordinator Ryan Day said he has seen promising decision-making in Haskins’ first two starts under center. “Whether it’s before or after the snap, he has to make decisions,” Day said. “He has the ability to make a check or in the pass game, he can change the protection and slide it one way or the other. He has a good handle on that.”Day said that despite the early season success Haskins has found, there are still plenty of mistakes to be corrected, especially with TCU coming up on the schedule.“I think that, you know, when the games get tighter, every play matters even more. And so the mistakes are still there,” Day said. “The interception in the red zone two games ago, or, you know, a play with false starting or sack on third down; those plays in a big game are going to show up even more.”To avoid these mistakes, Haskins will have to rely more on the rest of his offense than he has thus far, with sophomore and redshirt junior running backs J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber having the big-game experience to help relieve some of the pressure.“I think the combination of a great offensive line and J.K. and Mike, you have to account for them,” Day said. “You saw Johnnie [Dixon], you see Terry [McLaurin] down the field, one-on-one situations with cornerbacks and then it’s just a matter of making the throw and catch. So it all starts with running the football, and if we can force that seventh guy in the box, that opens up stuff in the pass game.”With Haskins working almost strictly through the air, Day said big games from Dobbins and Weber allow for more chances to beat safeties on deep throws “whether it’s with [a run-pass option] or play-action pass,” something made more important in a matchup that’s expected to be closer than the previous two.It might have been Oregon State. It might have been Rutgers. But Haskins has lived up to the high expectations left behind by former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett.Breaking the Ohio State record for passing yards and touchdowns in a first start, then completing 87 percent of passes for four touchdowns in his second, Haskins has looked the part of a worthy successor to one of the Buckeyes’ most decorated quarterbacks. Now, coming into TCU, Haskins has an opportunity to prove his worth against an opponent that seems more fit for the challenge than any he has ever faced.
In his first official press conference as the new Spain boss, Luis Enrique outlined his aim to “continue the work” that both his predecessors Julen Lopetegui and Fernando Hierro accomplishedRFF president Luis Rubiales announced the appointment of Enrique over a week ago, in what he had described as a “unanimous” decision by the federation. It will mark the first time Enrique has been in football management since his departure from Barcelona in 2017.Having been previously been linked with the managerial vacancies at Arsenal and Chelsea, the 48-year-old surprisingly took up the challenge of taking charge of the Spanish national team following their disastrous World Cup campaign that had seen head coach Lopetegui fired on the eve of their first game and Hierro only being able to take the side past the group stages.“The aim is to continue the work of Lopetegui and Hierro,” said Enrique, according to Football-Espana.Quiz: How much do you know about David Villa? Wolverhampton and Huddersfield will play tonight, and the Wolves will have no mercy over the last-place Premier League team.Wolverhampton Wanderers will pay a visit to English Premier League last place team Huddersfield Town tonight. The Wolves are currently in the seventh position of the table with 40 points, while Huddersfield is at the bottom with only 11 points. One of Huddersfield’s only wins came against Wolverhampton earlier this week at Molineux stadium. And this is the reason playmaker Ruben Neves says his team will not have mercy on them.“We will play as we want to play, with our identity. Trying to play well, trying to be organized and do what we do every game,” he told The Birmingham Mail.“We will try to achieve the three points, but mainly play good, because if we play good, if we are in shape, if we are organized, we are closer to getting the three points and come home with another win.”“Every game we don’t win is really disappointing. But I think that Huddersfield game at home was one of our worst games,” he added.“We were in a bad moment, in that month, but the big teams are not the ones that win every game, we have to know that something is wrong, and you have to bounce back. We did it, and we did it well.”Liverpool legend Nicol slams Harry Maguire’s Man United form Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Steve Nicol believes Harry Maguire has made some “horrendous mistakes” recently, and has failed to find his best form since joining Manchester United.“We don’t think about that game now. We are in good form and we want to keep on going, winning games and achieve the maximum points as we can,” he commented.“We want to look forward and want to achieve the maximum points we can. We don’t have points target. We only think game-by-game and we always want to win each game.”“I think that will make the difference in our team because we want to win every game, it doesn’t matter the opponent, the stadium, we always want to be us and to play like we want to play, and, if we can, win every game,” he explained. We scored four at the John Smith’s Stadium back in 2015, including Conor Coady’s first goal for the club!**Five months before he signed for us…🐺👀 pic.twitter.com/PDGylnTcS0— Wolves (@Wolves) February 26, 2019

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been announced the permanent manager of Manchester Untied.LINDSEY PARNABY/AFP/Getty ImagesManchester United has just announced that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to be the permanent manager of the football club. The announcement was made on the club’s official website on March 28, merely days before United’s Premier League game against Watford. The Norwegian manager was appointed on a temporary basis after former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked in December. He has now been offered the full-time role at Old Trafford and been given a three-year contract. “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club,” said Solskjaer. “It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here. The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we’ve done so far. This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long-term and hopefully deliver the continued success that our amazing fans deserve.” Solskjaer will manage United till the end of the seasonMatthew Lewis/Getty ImagesSince taking over, Solskjaer has been a resounding success at the club winning 14 of his 19 games and losing only thrice. Under his management, United has amassed more points in the Premier League than any other club in the same duration. Solskjaer also oversaw an unprecedented European night against PSG at the Parc des Princes when United became the first team to win a Champions League tie after losing the first leg at home by two or more goals. Pleased with his performance since taking charge, Executive Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward said, “Since coming in as caretaker manager in December, the results Ole has delivered speak for themselves.””More than just performances and results, Ole brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and as a coach, coupled with a desire to give young players their chance and a deep understanding of the culture of the club. This all means that he is the right person to take Manchester United forward.” Old Trafford is a happy place once again.Gareth Copley/Getty Images”I want to thank Ole and the coaching team for everything they have done so far and congratulate him on this richly deserved appointment. The fans and everyone at the club are behind him as he looks to take us where we need to be and build the next stage of our history.”Solskjaer started his managerial career at United when he was in charge of the club’s reserve team for a spell of three years till 2010. Prior to that, he played for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team for 11 years since 1996. Solskjaer is a massive fan favourite at Old Trafford and also scored the stoppage-time winner at Camp Nou in the 1999 Champions League final which made United the first and only British club to win the treble.

In picture: Keanu Reeves at the premiere of The Matrix Revolutions.Reuters File PhotoKeanu Reeves has become an internet sensation after starring in a couple of amazing acting thriller movies. As we all know, the entire internet loves him for the person he is and now the John Wick 3 actor has also caught the eyes of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who wants him to come on board in MCU movie. If Keanu agrees to star in a superhero movie then he will be the first big name to replace Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in MCU.In Avengers Endgame, we saw the end of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. We all know that Iron Man is dead and Captain America is too old to fight anyone. It simply means that Marvel needs a big hero to get on board who will take the command and carry on the superhero franchise on his shoulders. In a recent interview with comicbook.com, Kevin Feige was asked whether he had ever considered Matrix star Keanu in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To amaze everyone, the studio head Feige stated that Marvel has tried to talk to him for almost every superhero movie that has made so far. It means that Keanu was reportedly asked to star in Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and others.”I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it,” Feige said. Avengers: Endgame posterTwitterApparently, this is not for the first time when the reports of Keanu Reeves to join the MCU have surfaced online. As earlier reported, there were several alleged claims that suggested that Keanu will reportedly star with Angelina Jolie in the upcoming The Eternals movie. The Eternals has been in pipeline from several years and after Endgame became the #1 movie in the world, it looks like the perfect time to introduce several new superheroes. If Marvel manages to convince/negotiate a deal with Keanu Reeves for The Eternals then the upcoming MCU movie would actually become the next big thing because of its star cast.Meanwhile, very little is known about the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are still hoping that they will get to see Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans portraying their respective roles in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home movie.

At least 6,000 Rohingya civilians fleeing renewed violence in Myanmar are stranded near the border with Bangladesh which is blocking their entry, a senior Bangladeshi official said Tuesday, as the United Nations urged Dhaka to assist them.Bangladesh has blocked thousands of civilians from the stateless Muslim minority from entering the country since Friday, when fresh fighting broke out between Myanmar’s security forces and Rohingya militants in neighbouring Rakhine state. The UN refugee agency says 3,000 have managed to cross into Bangladesh in the past three days, but the vast majority have been stopped at the border despite heavy fighting in nearby villages.“Around 6,000 Myanmar nationals have gathered on the border and are trying to enter Bangladesh,” a senior Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official told AFP, referring to the Rohingya. The official said the situation across the border, which is demarcated in parts by narrow stretches of the Naf River, was “still volatile”.“Last night we heard heavy gunfire by automatic weapons in phases and saw smoke billowing from burnt villages across the border,” he said.Another BGB official estimated the number of Rohingya in limbo could exceed 10,000, as many were believed to be hiding in the hills and forests to escape nearby violence.“We’ve been ordered not to allow Rohingya to enter Bangladesh,” said one border guard, who asked to remain anonymous as he was not permitted to speak to media.“But how can I deny shelter to this newborn who is dying from cold?”UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on Bangladesh to step up assistance to civilians escaping the violence, noting “many of those fleeing are women and children, some of whom are wounded”.But there are already 400,000 Rohingya living in squalid camps in Bangladesh and the government has instructed its border guards to prevent another influx at all costs.Bangladesh on Monday proposed joint military operations with Myanmar against Rohingya militants fighting in Rakhine state, hoping to stem the flow of refugees.Soldiers had detained and returned nearly 500 Rohingya trying to cross the border since Monday, Shariful Islam Jamaddar, a deputy commander of BGB, told AFP.Mohammad Ismail had taken shelter from the rains under a plastic sheet erected by border guards just inside Bangladeshi territory, but the shelter has since been torn down.“The border guards let us take shelter here, but I don’t know now what I will do with my son,” he told AFP, gesturing to the shivering boy.Army convoys have been driving Rohingya who have managed to cross into Bangladesh back across the border several times a day, an AFP correspondent at the scene said.Amid the turbulence and monsoon downpours, an 11-year-old Rohingya girl named Marium was separated from her parents.“I went to the toilet when the (border) guards drove away my parents. Where shall I find them now?” the young girl told AFP in tears.
