Kohli (67) in company of de Villiers (59 not out) scripted a superb runchase, sharing a 85-run stand to lay the foundation.”I am pretty familiar with this ground, I have played here for three years,” said Stoinis at the post-match press conference here.”The more comforting factor is batting with AB de Villiers, that makes it easier.”He said that RCB badly needed a win to stay alive in the tournament.”We needed it, it’s good get to two points and get ourselves started,” he said. After Kohli got out, Stoinis said he had a chat with de Villiers on how to go about the target.”Make sure to keep head straight, watch the ball, keep it simple and then once you get in think about which balls you want to target,” Stoinis said, referring to the advice from his senior partner.Stonis also praised the knock played by KXIP opener Chris Gayle.”Main thing is every team has got world class players and they have got someone like Chris Gayle, who is arguably the best T20 player,” he said.Praising the effort of RCB bowlers, he said they applied brakes during middle overs claiming wickets at regular intervals, which also ensured that Gayle had to play a controlled innings.advertisement”Make sure you keep coming back and get into contest with every single ball and that’s what our seam bowlers did, they did particularly well. They got hit early but all of them had good spells later and then our spinners controlled through the middle overs as there was a little bit of turn,” said Stoinis. On the games ahead, he said RCB are not thinking too far ahead.”We are not thinking about finals and that sort of thing..it is just about each game now, we can’t afford to get too far ahead of ourselves, it is good to get started, we will take next game as it comes and hopefully we will win few on trot..it’s still a long season,” he said. Also Read | Virat Kohli to AB de Villiers: Being your neighbour in the team hotel a lovely experienceAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. BC Premier John Horgan says apology other defences mitigate defamation suit

first_imgVANCOUVER – British Columbia Premier John Horgan says he has made a “full and fair apology” for remarks about the province’s former liquefied natural gas advocate in reaction to a lawsuit claiming millions in damages against the B.C. government.Horgan and B.C. Jobs Minister Bruce Ralston both filed statements of defence in court last week in reaction in a civil lawsuit launched by Gordon Wilson.Wilson is seeking $5 million in damages alleging Horgan made defamatory statements to news media by saying there is no evidence of any written reports or briefings to back up Wilson’s salary.Ralston is named for allegedly telling media that Wilson’s contract was terminated because an internal review uncovered no documents to support $550,000 in payments since 2013.In almost identical statements of defence, Horgan and Ralston claim the lawsuit is unnecessary, frivolous or vexatious, adding that any comments they may have made are protected by the defences of fair comment and qualified privilege. Both Horgan and Ralston say their full apologies to Wilson received considerable coverage in early August and they add the disputed details about Wilson’s role as B.C.’s LNG advocate came from trusted insiders.“…The defendant’s statements were made without malice on a matter of public interest on the basis of information from apparently reliable and qualified sources within the British Columbia government and were protected by the defence of responsible communication,” Horgan says.Ralston and Horgan also expressly deny “that the plaintiff has suffered injury loss or damage, as alleged or at all.”None of the allegations made in the statements of claim or defence have been tested in court. In his legal action, Wilson says information detailing his work on LNG was available on a government website but was negligently or wilfully overlooked and neither Horgan nor Ralston discussed any employment issues with him.Ralston said in a Facebook post that his claim about there being no written reports was inaccurate, that he regretted making the statements and apologized to Wilson.Wilson asserts that his termination soon after the NDP took over the government was “political payback” for his support of former premier Christy Clark, who had appointed him as LNG advocate. He alleges he has been seriously injured in character, credit and reputation and the comments have negatively affected his ability to obtain employment as a government or industry consultant or advocate.last_img read more

Greenhouse gases from industrialized countries rise after 1990s drop UN reports

For the smaller group of industrialized countries that ratified the 1997 Kyoto Protocol setting reduction targets, emissions in 2006 were about 17 per cent below the Protocol’s 1990 base line, but they still grew after 2000. The pre-2000 decrease stemmed from the economic decline of transition countries in Eastern and Central Europe in the 1990s.“The biggest recent increase in emissions of industrialized countries has come from economies in transition, which have seen a rise of 7.4 per cent in greenhouse gas emissions within the 2000 to 2006 time frame,” Yvo de Boer, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said.“The figures clearly underscore the urgency for the UN negotiating process to make good progress in Poznan and move forward quickly in designing a new agreement to respond to the challenge of climate change,” he added, referring to the talks in the Polish city from 1 to 12 December that constitute the half-way mark of a two-year negotiating process, set to culminate in an ambitious international climate change deal in Copenhagen, Denmark, next year.Mr. de Boer also noted that accounting data, including emission quotas for the Kyoto commitment period 2008-2012, have been finalized for almost all Kyoto countries. Such data is already used in emissions trading conducted by countries in accordance with the rules established by the Kyoto Protocol.“Emission quotas defined by the Kyoto Protocol are no longer simple numbers on paper – they are part of real-time operation of the global carbon market,” he said. “We see the carbon market working and this is an important message, not least for the Poznan meeting,” he added. In Poland, negotiators will take stock of the progress made in the first year of the talks and map out what needs to be done to reach agreement at the end of 2009. The meeting will also be an important opportunity for ministers to determine the key ingredients of a shared vision on long-term cooperation to address climate change. With 192 Parties, the UNFCCC has near universal membership and is the parent treaty of the Kyoto Protocol, which to date has 183 member Parties. Under the Protocol, 37 States, consisting of highly industrialized countries and countries undergoing the process of transition to a market economy, have legally binding emission limitation and reduction commitments. The ultimate objective of both treaties is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. 17 November 2008Greenhouse gas emissions of 40 industrialized countries rose by 2.3 per cent between 2000 and 2006, while still about 5 per cent below the 1990 level, according to United Nations figures released today, two weeks before a major review conference on the issue. read more

Geek deals HP Envy 27 IPS monitor cheap PS3 bundle more

first_imgWhen you think of a premium monitor, it usually has a large screen, great image quality, and of course high resolution. Most of the high-end displays we love to drool over have 27-inch or larger screens and 2560×1440 or higher resolution. For those who don’t need a high resolution screen, but still want other premium features, this deal on HP’s Envy 27 monitor should be right up your alley. It does use the more pedestrian 1920×1080, though that does tend to work out better for heavy text readers and gaming (that is why this author chose such a monitor over a higher resolution version). The Envy 27 uses an IPS-type LCD panel, the same found in many of Apple’s devices and offers wider viewing angles with deeper, richer colors. Another main draw is the built-in speakers, which are nothing like the little noisemakers you normally see. There are actually four separate speakers built-in, each deliver 3 watts of power and backed up by Beats Audio technology. Our friends at PCMag found the sound to be excellent for the size and overall gave the Envy 27 a 4/5 rating. Most of the high-end monitors we come across have a lot in common, especially their black rectangular design. The Envy 27 also stands apart here, with a 1.4-inch thin design that combines a glossy piano black LCD housing with an angular silver stand. You’ll be able to connect nearly any device you like to the Envy 27 via its VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs. It also has an additional audio input, letting you leverage the premium audio from your PC or any other device. This deal lets you snag a premium monitor with a rare combination of features at a pretty significant savings. It may not have all the pro-grade features of some other 27-inch displays, but it’s also about half the price and a solid option for the enthusiast.HP Envy 27 IPS-panel 27-inch LED-backlit LCD Monitor for $375.99 + free shipping (reg. $469.99 | use coupon MT2617)Our other top deals:Dell Inspiron 660 Core i5 Quad-core Mini Tower w/ 8GB RAM, 2TB Hard Drive & GeForce GT 620 for $519.99 + free shipping (reg. $799.99 | use coupon DZ5M1X1S0NR048)Denon AH-D600 Audiophile 50mm Over-Ear Headphones for $299.99 + free shipping (reg. $499)Ends soon! Super Slim 500GB PlayStation 3 with Assassin’s Creed 3 Bundle for $229.99 + free shipping (reg. $299.99)last_img read more

This is a level up from what we’re used to. They were experienced, they bought some fouls – things like this, this is just part of their learning as players.”“Many of our players are very young. first_img Videos | Radiation Therapy | July 30, 2019 VIDEO: Use of Radiotherapy to Noninvasively Ablate Ventricular Tachycardia Pierre Qian, MBBS, read more May 1, 2012 – The use of a dedicated pediatric imaging department, with dedicated pediatric computed tomography (CT) technologists, for pediatric CT scans significantly reduces the radiation dose delivered to the patient, according to a study in the May issue of the Journal of the American College of Radiology. When performed and monitored properly, the benefits of CT scans outweigh the potential long-term risk of radiation. To minimize the potential adverse effects of radiation exposure to pediatric patients, it is necessary to reduce the dose of radiation delivered to these patients while preserving the diagnostic quality of the images produced.“There are many strategies for reducing radiation dose. The use of protocols with adjusted exposure parameters for pediatric patients on the basis of child size, organ system scanned and the size of the region scanned is most notable. However, compliance with these protocols can be challenging for technologists, particularly when scanning a combination of adult and pediatric patients,” said Heather L. Borders, M.D., lead author of the study. A retrospective review of abdominal and pelvic CT console dose and exposure parameter data on 495 patients from a combined pediatric and adult radiology department and subsequently 244 patients from a dedicated pediatric radiology department was performed. Patients were divided into 1 of 8 weight categories for analysis. A statistically significant decrease in the estimated effective dose for abdominal and pelvic CT studies was observed in all but one of the weight categories at the pediatric radiology department compared with the pediatric and adult radiology department. “Imaging pediatric patients in a dedicated pediatric imaging department with dedicated pediatric CT technologists may result in greater compliance with pediatric protocols and significantly reduced patient dose,” said Borders.“Conversely, greater scrutiny of compliance with pediatric dose-adjusted CT protocols may be necessary for departments that scan both children and adults,” she said. For more information: www.jacr.org FacebookTwitterLinkedInPrint分享 Siemens Go.Top CT scanner at SCCT19Video Player is loading.Play VideoPlayMuteCurrent Time 0:00/Duration 1:05Loaded: 15.14%Stream Type LIVESeek to live, currently playing liveLIVERemaining Time -1:05 Playback Rate1xChaptersChaptersDescriptionsdescriptions off, selectedCaptionscaptions settings, opens captions settings dialogcaptions off, selectedAudio Trackdefault, selectedFullscreenThis is a modal window.Beginning of dialog window. Government accords high priority to rail connectivity in the Northeast says DoNER

first_imgUnion Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh has said that the Union Government has hiked the Northeast Railway Budget by as much as 151% within the last two years of its term.Stating this while addressing the ‘Global Rail Convention’ organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the total Budget outlay fixed by the present government for 2016-17 is Rs 5340 crore.Dr Singh stressed upon the priority being given to connectivity in the Northeast including the rail network, citing how  Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first ever rail link to Meghalaya and around the same time, Arunachal Pradesh was also brought on the rail map of India. Similarly, he said that Akhaura-Agartala-Bangladesh is going to be a game changer. The Ministry of Railways has offered to contribute Rs 580 crore for the construction of a railway track on the Indian side while for across the border, funds will be borne by the Ministry of External Affairs.Referring to fast-track movement of rail expansion in Northeast, Dr Singh said that work on the broad-gauge track was expedited in the last two years. During the year 2015-16, over 500 km of broad-gauge railway track was laid in the region. This includes the broad-gauge track to Agartala which became functional on February 20, 2016 and also Kathakat-Bhairabi in Mizoram.Rail and road connectivity to the Northeast will pave the way for growth in the areas of tourism, revenue and trade. In addition, he said, the innovative work on laying down of waterways along the Brahmaputra up to the Bay of Bengal has also been undertaken which will not only prove to be an alternative means of transport but also be much more cost effective.last_img read more
